Channel 4 | Ghost Town
Role: Assistant Producer
Ghost Town puts the spotlight on Pontefract, an historic ex-mining town located in West Yorkshire, the most haunted county in the UK and home, allegedly, to Europe’s most violent poltergeist. Every Pomfrecian either lives with a ghost, has had a supernatural experience or, at the very least, knows someone who has.
This 30 minute film explores this passion for the paranormal, examining how and why such beliefs manifested within this community, as well as the consequent commercial exploitation of the supernatural through the eyes of the colourful local community members. While lighthearted and full of comic moments, the film also carries unexpected political undertones, ultimately proving a poignant study of a part of England that has long gone ignored.
Ghost Town was directed by Jamie Roberts for Channel 4.
