Next Goal Wins

Role: Production Manager

After suffering a world record 31-0 defeat at the hands of Australia in 2001, American Samoa – officially the worst football team on earth – are still in search of their first ever competitive win. When maverick Dutch coach Thomas Rongen arrives on the island to help the team achieve this elusive goal, he discovers that his ramshackle team includes an emotionally scarred goalkeeper and the first transgender player ever to play international football.  As SF Weekly said, “Even viewers who aren’t into sports may find themselves cheering – and perhaps shedding a few tears.”

The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival 2014 before being released theatrically around the globe. It won the 2014 BIFA for Best Documentary, and was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the 2015 Abu Dhabi International Film Festival.

The film is available to rent on Amazon Prime and on YouTube films.
